General Confessions
General is the default landing spot when you post a confession, pick it if nothing else fits, or honestly, pick it just because you don't feel like categorizing anything and want to post right now. Every confession still belongs somewhere for browsing purposes, but you shouldn't have to stop and think about taxonomy before you can get something off your chest.
This is different from White Lies & Secrets, which is specifically framed around the "I've never told anyone this" feeling. General has no framing at all, it's just the uncategorized bucket, and there's no wrong reason to post here. If a moderator or a later version of you decides it fits better somewhere else, that's what the category system is for; it was never meant to be a gate in front of posting.
Frequently asked questions
Should I always pick a more specific category if one fits?
It helps other readers find your confession if you do, but it's not required, General exists specifically so category-picking is never a barrier to posting. Pick a specific category when it's obvious; use General when it's not, or when you just don't care to choose.
How is this different from White Lies & Secrets?
White Lies & Secrets is for posts that are specifically about the "I've never told anyone this" feeling, the secrecy itself is part of the point. General has no particular framing at all; it's just the default when nothing else applies or you don't want to pick.
Will my confession get less attention if I post it in General instead of a specific category?
It'll show up in Latest/Best/Random the same as anything else, category browsing is one way people find confessions, not the only way.
