I Spilled My Colleague's Lunch All Over Their Desk...

Hey everyone, I need your help. So today at work, there was this moment that just seemed like it was going to be fine, but then everything went wrong and now I’m not sure if I should come clean or hope no one notices... First of all, my colleague Emma has been really kind lately. She's usually pretty quiet, but she came into the office today with a huge smile on her face, even though it’s Monday. So naturally, as I was heading to the kitchen for my morning coffee refill, I decided to ask how her weekend went and if anything exciting happened... Well... As we chatted in the hallway near her cubicle, she mentioned having an amazing homemade lunch packed that day and was excited about trying a new hummus recipe. So you can imagine my horror when, as we parted ways, I turned around to head back to my desk but accidentally knocked over this huge mug of coffee... right into her freshly laid out lunch on her desk... The first thing I did was apologize profusely and offered to get her another sandwich from the café or whatever. But then she looked at me with such a sad face, and it felt like all my words were just making things worse... I tried to fix things, but now I’m not sure if I should tell our boss what happened and risk seeming clumsy or just hope Emma forgives me on her own... So, confession time! How do you handle moments like this? Should I fess up to the whole office about my klutziness or try and smooth it over another way? Let me know what you think...
