I Pranked My Co-Worker's Desk...Kind Of

So here’s the deal...I’ve been feeling kind of unappreciated at work lately. Not like I’m not doing my job or anything, but it feels like there’s never enough recognition for all the stuff I do...You know? And then this happened today...My colleague, Jane, just keeps bringing in these weird snacks that no one else wants to eat. Like yesterday she had some kind of dried mango thing...Yuck! So anyway, after a few days of this, I decided I needed to take action...I mean, it’s not like I’m the first person ever who felt they deserved more recognition...but still. So, umm, I brought in one of those small fake spiders you get for Halloween or something. Thought maybe if she was surprised by a little scare...she’d remember her snack choices better...Or at least she might think twice about what we have to look forward to seeing on our desks next time... Anyway, this morning I put it on her keyboard while everyone else was getting coffee and stuff...Then waited for the reaction. At first, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, until she started hitting random keys...I could tell something was off. Eventually, Jane looked down and shrieked a little bit...Not exactly the dramatic scene I was going for, but it worked! She did seem surprised enough that everyone in the office turned to look at her. And then, uh...well, she found out it was me. We talked about how it’s not okay to prank each other in work and all that... But still, something just feels good about knowing I brought a little bit of fun into an otherwise dull day. Even if it was for the wrong reasons...I mean, maybe next time instead of pranks, we could find better ways to boost morale around here...?
