I Spilled Coffee On My Boss's New Laptop

Today was one of those days at work when everything seemed to go wrong. I was running late after getting stuck in traffic and just managing to arrive on time as the shift began. Then, right after a rush period where we served 40 customers in under an hour, my hand slipped while refilling a coffee machine with freshly brewed java. The hot liquid cascaded over the counter and onto a new laptop that was resting there, my boss's personal laptop. He had just set it up moments earlier to check something important. Everyone froze as I scrambled to grab napkins, but it was too late, the damage was done. My boss came back in and saw the commotion; his face went pale as he assessed the extent of the spill. I felt sick with guilt but didn't say anything until everyone had quieted down around me. After making sure customers were attended to, I confessed what happened without any excuses. The look on my boss's face was one I won’t forget for a long time.
