My Roommate's Late-Night Netflixing Habit Is Annoying Me Silly

So I moved into this dorm room with a roommate named Alex who swears by late-night binge-watching. And while I get it, chillax and all that jazz, but seriously, can’t the dude sleep like a normal person? Last night, he had the volume cranked up on some TV show as if I wasn't even there, which is just not cool when you’re trying to catch forty winks at 2 AM. It’s like, 'Hey Alex, mind whispering your next episode review in the morning?’ But nope, his plan A and B seems to be Netflix until dawn or just flat out talking to himself like he's having an existential crisis. I’ve tried all sorts of tactics, earplugs, noise-canceling headphones (which actually make me feel like I'm drowning), even a peace talk about respect for the other person’s sleep schedule. Still no dice. He’s convinced we’re roommates for life and not just a term's worth. Maybe it's time to draft up that roommate contract with teeth in it, huh? Am I the only one who thinks a midnight curfew should apply to everyone?
