I'm Not Such a Great Neighbor After All

So, I just moved into this awesome apartment complex in the heart of the city. It's super modern and everything is clean and new. The other day, there was a note on my door from the landlord saying we need to get our recycling bins out by 7 AM every Tuesday for pickup. Oh, how exciting! Recycling, my personal passion, right? Not exactly. I mean, I do recycle when I can, don't worry, no one's accusing me of being anti-environment here. But there are moments where it feels like a chore, and after work on Mondays, the last thing I want to think about is what goes in which bin. Plus, my bins were pretty full from all the moving boxes, so I figured: 'Why not just get up early one Tuesday and deal with it then?' Fast forward to today, which is actually a Wednesday by now (because who reads notes on their door at 10 PM?), and there's still no sign of those recycling bins outside. My next-door neighbor, let's call her Karen, walks out and gives me a look like she knows I'm not as green-minded as I say. Now, the kicker? When Karen came back in with her groceries, I saw her carrying empty beer bottles, no joke! Here’s where it gets a little convoluted: while waiting for my turn to take out the bins, I made a quick detour and grabbed a few things from the local convenience store. That's when I noticed they were giving away reusable grocery bags. So I picked up a couple just in case. And there you have it, full of good intentions but no recycling bins. On one hand, I feel like an eco-treacherous bad guy, because if everyone just ignores the rules, the city won't be as green as it could be. But on the other, maybe Karen and I both deserve a pass today since we're still getting adjusted to our new surroundings. All in all, my takeaway is that while moving can feel like a big adventure, sometimes it's just about doing your civic duty, like taking out recycling. Oh, by the way, if you see me walking around with reusable bags, you'll know I'm on the right path! Can't be perfect all the time, but at least I try.
