I Spilled Coffee on My Laptop in Class

Today was the worst day of my college life so far. I had just got a new laptop for school and was bringing it to class this morning with me. It's not like me to drink coffee while working, but today was particularly stressful, and I needed an extra caffeine boost. But as we were going over important notes during that 8 AM lecture, I absentmindedly reached for my phone and knocked my cup of steaming coffee right onto the keyboard of my brand-new laptop. I froze in horror as it hissed and sputtered, then just sat there with everyone watching me. The teacher asked if everything was okay, but I couldn't bring myself to speak or move. My hands were shaking so badly from shock that I had to force them down into my lap. It’s not like the coffee ruined everything right away, though it did freeze up, the damage wasn’t immediate, but there's no way it survived unscathed after being soaked in hot liquid. I spent the rest of class trying to think how much trouble this would cause me. I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't even hear when someone tried talking to me about notes they had taken while I was MIA. Now, not only do I have to deal with a potentially ruined laptop and finding another way to take notes for all of my classes from now on, but also the guilt of wasting that coffee that I could’ve used to help stay awake during studying later.
