I Lied About My Coffee Order

Hey, so there's this thing I do every time I go to my favorite coffee shop. You know how they ask you for your name and your order? Well, I've been lying about mine forever now. It started off as a joke with myself because I thought 'John Doe' was too boring. But it stuck. Every day, I walk in there and say my name is Alex something-or-other, just to hear them call out this fake name over the speaker system. I kind of like pretending someone else exists, or maybe that I have a split personality? It's pretty silly, but I find comfort in the idea of being someone who isn't me for a bit. Plus, it always gets my coworkers talking when they see Alex's coffee sitting at my desk and not theirs. Sure, it feels kind of sneaky sometimes, like I'm cheating or something, but hey, at least one person out there is living an amazing life under the name Alex.
