I'm Telling Myself I Don't Need to Read That Newsletter Every Week

So, here's a confession for those out there who might think they're the only weirdos like me. I've been subscribed to this one newsletter that emails me updates every week since... well, let's just say it's been going on for years now. And honestly? It’s become more of a joke than anything else. You see, this newsletter is all about gardening tips and the latest trends in homegrown vegetables and flowers. Now, I have no issue with these things in theory, my wife even has her own little vegetable patch out back that she tends to quite well. But me? I’ve never shown any interest in it until recently. I started getting these emails about a year ago when my neighbor’s rose bushes looked particularly nice one morning as I was heading for work. I had no idea why, but the thought of those rose bushes got stuck in my head and wouldn't let go. Before I knew it, I was signing up for this gardening newsletter just so I could read about how to care for different plants. The thing is, I never actually buy or plant anything based on what they tell me, I don’t even know if I have space for a garden where I live! But every Sunday morning without fail, there it is in my inbox: the newsletter telling me all about tomatoes and tulips. And guess what? I open them up and read every single word. I tell myself it’s just knowledge accumulation, maybe one day I’ll actually start gardening properly and then these tips will come in handy. But deep down, I know that’s not why I keep clicking the link each week. It’s like a guilty pleasure for my morning coffee time; I don’t need to read it, but darn if I won’t. So yeah, there you have it: the weirdo who’s been sneaking peeks at gardening tips despite never having any plans to get into it themselves. If this confession helps just one person realize they’re not alone in their bizarre hobbies, then maybe my secret is worth sharing after all.
