My Week at Work Is So Boring Even My Coffee Machine Looks Sleepy

So, it's been one of those weeks where even my coffee machine looks like it’s snoozing. You know the kind: everyone is on autopilot, orders are piling up but no one seems to care enough to do anything about them, and the only sound in the office is the hum of the air conditioner and the occasional rustling of papers. I’ve been having a particularly tough time with my boss. We've always had this strange dynamic, like we’re stuck in an endless loop of misunderstandings. She’s got this habit of assigning me tasks that I know are just going to sit there, uncompleted, because everyone is understaffed and overworked. So, here's the deal: last Friday, my boss asked if anyone could cover a client call for her while she was out. No biggie, right? I said yes because what else am I supposed to do with half an hour of free time? Long story short, the call went from 10 minutes to an hour-long marathon about petty office politics and some bizarre new policy about paperclip usage limits. By the end, my head was spinning, but I did manage to jot down some notes on a napkin because we ran out of proper stationery. Now here’s the rub: my boss is coming back today, and I’m supposed to give her these notes as if I’ve made real progress. The only problem is that the notes are just a bunch of random doodles and nonsensical sentences scribbled down in my effort to make it look like I was listening. So here’s where I need your help: Am I an asshole for not having done any work, or am I justified because everyone else seems to be coasting through their days without putting in the effort? Should I confess and hope for forgiveness, or should I just hand over my napkin notes and hope they’re good enough to fool her? What would you do? Let me know what you think, I’m at a loss and any advice is appreciated!
