First Day Mishap at Work

I started my first job as an intern at this big corporation last Monday. I was so excited and nervous all weekend long; I couldn't wait to see the office, meet everyone, and start contributing. Sunday night felt like it took forever before I could finally get into bed, but even then sleep wouldn't come. I tossed and turned for hours until my alarm woke me up early in the morning. Monday arrived and I was ready with all of my supplies, a notepad, pens, water bottle, laptop charger... everything! My mom dropped me off at work on time and said her usual good-luck speech before I walked through those giant doors. As soon as I did though, I realized the office building had multiple floors and departments, but no clear signage for my team. I wandered around confused, trying to find a reception desk or someone who looked like they could point me in the right direction. Every person I approached either ignored me completely, seemed too busy, or pointed me down different hallways until I felt completely lost. It was like searching through a maze with no exit. When lunchtime came around and I still hadn't found my team, I got desperate. I asked another intern in the elevator where the cafeteria was; he pointed me to a floor that seemed far away, but at least it wasn't the stairwell this time! So off I went to find some food. As I rushed down long corridors with no landmarks, I saw someone wearing a name tag and shouted out 'Help!', waving my arms around wildly like an idiot. To my embarrassment, everyone turned to stare. They didn't look amused or impressed either; more shocked and bewildered by the spectacle of a new intern screaming for help in the middle of their hallway at noon on day one. I blushed hard under all those eyes staring back. Luckily after that incident, someone nearby decided they should actually take pity on me and directed me to my floor. But oh, the shame! The first day of work ended with me feeling like a total disaster rather than a promising new member. I just hope nobody remembers how silly I looked waving my arms around like a lunatic. But hey, at least I found my team eventually!
