I started my new job a week ago at this bustling office. Everything felt so fresh and promising until last Friday when I had one of those 'typical first-week' moments that you hope never happens. As the morning coffee rush hit, I was handed my boss’s to-go cup, which he had asked me to bring back to him after grabbing a refill for myself. In my haste and eagerness to please everyone in such an intimidating environment, I ended up tripping slightly as I rushed to deliver it to his brand new desk. Coffee cascaded out of the cup onto his pristine workspace, staining everything from folders to his laptop’s keyboard cover. The horror on his face was palpable, but surprisingly enough, he laughed it off and assured me that accidents happen. Still, every time I pass by his desk now, a wave of guilt washes over me, reminding me that first impressions are crucial, even if you can’t always control what they might be.
