I'm The Boss On Night Shift

So I work the night shift at a local warehouse, and yeah, it's lonely sometimes. But you know what? There are perks too. I started out as just another worker, but now I run the place after everyone else goes home for the night. It’s like I’m king of my castle when no one is around to tell me how to do things. Today was interesting because we had this new guy, let's call him Dave, who joined us late last week. He keeps trying to make suggestions about better ways to organize stuff or maybe speed up the packing process. But guess what? I don’t like taking orders from anyone, especially not someone who just started. So tonight, when he was busy figuring out which crate goes where and how everything should be labeled differently than usual, I simply ignored him. I mean, why would I follow his lead when it's my time to call the shots? But here’s the thing, I am usually pretty chill about my job. Work hard, get home, sleep until morning. Tonight was different because Dave kept nagging me with all these “improvements” he had planned out in his head. Now I know some might think ignoring him was unprofessional or that I should have listened to his ideas more seriously. But honestly? This guy reminds me of myself when I first started, full of enthusiasm but not understanding the bigger picture. So, is it okay for me to just do what works best for me during my shift and let him figure out how things really work in this place? I'm asking because I don't want to be seen as that jerk who ruins people's chances at making a difference. But also, I have enough on my plate already without taking direction from someone else while it's my time to shine. So am I being the asshole here? Or is there something more I should be doing?
