I Gave Up Coding for a Daydreaming Session

Anonymous Suspicious Gossip #934 · General

Hey everyone, this is Alex. I’m a software engineer at a bustling startup, and I’ve been working on the same project for months now. Today was a breakthrough day, but not in the way anyone expected. Instead of coding new features or debugging complex issues, I spent most of my time staring out the window and thinking about simpler days, when programming felt like a creative challenge rather than just another deadline to hit. I found myself dreaming up elaborate storylines for video games that never existed, imagining what it would be like if the characters had more nuanced backstories or if certain plot twists played out differently. My mind wandered through forests of code I wished I could write someday but haven’t quite figured out yet. It was refreshing and nostalgic, a small escape from the relentless cycle of tasks and timelines. I know I should probably be proud that I’ve kept my head in the game for this long, most folks would have burned out months ago, but today felt like an admission of sorts. Maybe I just need a break, or maybe I’m getting tired of churning out the same type of work over and over again without room to play around with something new. Anyway, that’s my confession for the day, I gave up coding for a daydreaming session.
