I Did Something Petty to My Co-Worker at Work and I'm Still Grinning About It

So, I work as a barista at this coffee shop near the university. There's this guy named Alex who always tries to act all high and mighty because he thinks he's so much better at his job than everyone else. He doesn't treat customers with kindness like we're supposed to, you know? Always in a rush, making them feel bad for not knowing what they want quickly enough. Now, one day I was filling up our milk cooler with fresh cartons from the back stock room. As I'm putting them away, I see Alex's water bottle sitting on top of the fridge where we keep extras if someone forgets theirs. So here's a little backstory: There's this superstition that drinking cold tap water gives you bad breath and makes your teeth feel weird. People bring bottles to avoid it. Anyway, when I saw his bottle there, an idea popped into my head like lightning. I grabbed the coldest milk carton from the back, opened it, and poured a generous amount of it right into his empty water bottle before he could notice or return for it. Then, I quickly put the cap back on and set it where I found it. Fast forward to later that afternoon when Alex comes in needing his usual iced coffee. As he's sipping and talking about how he can't figure out why his breath tastes funny all day, my co-worker Emma turns to me with this look of 'Did you?' And there was no need for words, the whole place went quiet. I couldn't help but chuckle inside knowing what had happened. Of course, I didn't say anything at first, just watched him squirm a bit while everyone else pretended not to notice too. But by now, almost everyone's in on it and every time he comes in there are these little nudges or whispered jokes about his water bottle incident. I know some might call me petty for doing that, but you know what? I feel justified knowing I brought down a bit of that smugness from him. It was just so satisfying to see the tables turned even if it's not exactly the best workplace behavior. Plus, now when he comes around the counter or sees me, there’s always this tiny smirk on his face trying to hide a scowl. And I love every second of it.
