My White Lie About My Job Experience

I recently moved to Seattle for a new job at a tech startup. The city was exciting but so different from where I came from; everything here is faster, and the coffee tastes like liquid gold. But there’s one small thing that has been bothering me since my first day at work. During the interview process, they asked about my previous roles in project management for similar companies, and I mentioned a specific position I held at a well-known firm in the Bay Area. The truth is, while I did work there, I wasn’t exactly doing what my resume said, my actual duties were more focused on administrative tasks rather than managing projects. To make matters worse, I got caught in a meeting last week when someone asked about my background, and I felt like such an imposter telling the story I had crafted to fit their expectations of me. Now every time I enter that conference room, I worry they’ll call me out on it. It’s a small lie, but the guilt eats at me.
