Pretending I Knew How To Code

I'm an office assistant who knows just enough tech to be dangerous. This week, a new intern asked me for help coding a script to automate some boring tasks. Problem is, I only know how to use the buttons in Microsoft Word. So, I pretended to read the code and offered vague advice like 'make sure your syntax is correct' or 'maybe try a loop.' The poor kid spent hours trying to fix it before giving up. Part of me feels bad about wasting their time, but honestly, they shouldn't have asked me if they didn't trust my actual coding skills. If I were them, I'd have figured that out too.
