So Embarrassing At The Art Gallery

Yesterday I went to this big art gallery downtown for my university's art class field trip. We're supposed to be analyzing the different styles and techniques used by the artists. Well, as we walked around looking at all these fancy paintings and sculptures, one of them really caught my eye, it was a huge sculpture made entirely out of old, colorful bicycle parts! It looked so cool and unique. I stood there staring at it for ages just trying to take in all the intricate details and patterns. So anyway, after studying it for what felt like hours (but maybe 20 minutes tops), I finally moved on... only to run into this guy who works at the gallery as a tour guide. He stopped me mid-stride and said something like “Oh hey there! I see you spent quite some time with the bike sculpture back there.” At that moment, my face got so hot from embarrassment, everyone was walking around looking at art normally but here I am dorking out over bicycle parts? It felt super awkward. But then he just laughed and told me it's one of his favorite pieces too! He explained some interesting things about the artist's inspiration behind it and gave me a mini private tour, which was actually really cool. I left feeling both incredibly embarrassed AND grateful, I learned way more from him than I would have on my own. But still though... oh man, am I going to hear about this one for weeks in class! Art students aren't known for our love of anything so untraditional.
