I May Have Ruined My Brother's Surprise Birthday Party

So, I kind of accidentally ruined my brother's surprise birthday party. You see, he has this weird tradition where everyone gives him handmade cards and homemade gifts. He’s super into it, but for me, it feels like such a chore compared to just getting him something cool from the store. This year, I had been working on his card for days because my mom hinted at something special going down when all the cousins were visiting. Last night, after everyone was asleep, I slipped it under his door, only to realize as I left that there was a huge hole in the middle of the card where I'd forgotten to glue back part of the paper. Terrified he’d see and be upset, I crept back into the dark hallway and crumpled up my half-hearted effort. But then, it dawned on me that everyone’s going to be expecting something tomorrow morning. So now, I’m dreading whether Mom will notice my absence. I feel bad for letting him down but honestly, just can’t muster the enthusiasm to try again.
