When My Grandkids Think I'm Stupid

Well, today I realized that maybe my grandkids aren't as impressed by me as I thought they were. We were all sitting around the kitchen table and I was telling them about a trick from my childhood to get apples without paying, you know, just slide your hand up under the display case and pick one out when no one is looking! But then little Sarah looks at me with that face kids make when they think an adult has completely lost it. She says something like, 'Grandpa, people don't shoplift anymore.' I felt my cheeks burning, but I tried to brush it off with a joke, saying maybe times have changed and now you can just order one with your phone. Still, she gave me this look that said, 'Really, Grandpa? We know better than that!' It was funny at first, but then it made me feel kind of old-fashioned. I guess some things really are different these days.
