Late Shift Blues

Working the night shift at a warehouse can be a grind, but there's one thing that always seems off to me. Every time I need to make a phone call during my break, whether it’s about work or just checking in with family, no matter how late it is, people on the other end of the line are usually pretty alert and chatty. Sometimes they even sound like they're up watching TV or just hanging out like it's midday. I know some folks pull off a full day and night shift back-to-back to make ends meet, but isn’t it supposed to be harder for most people to stay awake this late? Am I missing something here, or is everyone else just as surprised by how much energy other people seem to have when they call me at 3 AM?
