I'm Obsessed With Pottery and My Parents Don't Get It
Anonymous Sheepish Flirt #590 · General
Hey there everyone! So I've picked up this new hobby of pottery. It's like sculpting with clay but even more fun, because you get to throw it on a wheel and watch shapes come out from under your hands. But here’s the thing, my parents are so not into it. Dad keeps saying stuff like “it’s messy” or “what are you going to do with all those pots?” And mom’s just quiet about it but I can see she thinks it’s silly. Like, what does that even mean? Are they worried about my future plans or something? It's getting to the point where every time I want to go to class, I feel like I'm sneaking out of the house because they’re so against it. But honestly, pottery has become this amazing outlet for me, making things with my hands and watching them take shape is just incredible. So, am I being weird here? Is there something wrong with loving a hobby that might not have an obvious future payoff? Or should I just tell them to butt out and keep enjoying it anyway?
