Classroom Management Struggles

As a teacher, I've always prided myself on being organized and professional. Yet, there are moments in the classroom when all my plans go out the window. Today was one of those days. The lesson plan looked perfect on paper, engaging activities, thought-provoking discussions, everything was set up for success. But as soon as I started the class, it became clear that today wasn't going to be an ordinary day. Students were either too distracted by their phones or completely checked out from the topic at hand. My attempts at getting everyone back on track felt like they fell flat, and before long, the whole lesson was a bit of a disaster. I ended up resorting to showing a documentary film, which is far from ideal but somehow seemed necessary to salvage any semblance of productivity for the day. So, here's my question: Am I alone in these struggles? Do other teachers face similar challenges where no matter how well-prepared they are, some days just feel impossible to manage effectively?
