Family Game Night Chaos

So here's a little tale from last week's family game night. I always get so excited for these nights because honestly, it’s one of the few times we all spend together without screens or distractions. But this time, things took an unexpected turn when my brother decided to bring out his collection of board games he got on eBay. Now, one of them was this really old Monopoly set with some missing pieces and a slightly torn-up board. My parents were all for it, classic nostalgia and everything, but I just knew it wasn’t going to end well. Sure enough, after an hour or so of playing, we had a full-on brawl over who owned what property and whether the game was even legal anymore. In my defense, I did point out that the rules were unclear because of all the missing pieces. But apparently, my suggestion that we just use our imaginations and make up new rules was too much for everyone. Mom threatened to stop buying snacks for these nights if it continued like this, so naturally, I had to step in and try to salvage some semblance of peace. I ended up winning by sheer luck, but more importantly, I convinced everyone that maybe we should stick to simpler games from now on, ones where you can actually finish a round without needing a referee.
