...Why Did I Do That? ...

So here's the thing... last week at work, something pretty embarrassing happened. We were in a meeting with my boss and all our colleagues, and we needed to discuss project timelines for the next quarter. Now, normally, I'm fairly good at keeping things together, but this time... things went off track. As everyone was listing out their tasks, it was my turn to speak up about what was on my plate. And suddenly, right there in front of everyone, I started talking really fast and mumbling so much that no one could understand me. I panicked, thinking someone might say something... but then, even worse, I just stopped mid-sentence, stood up, and walked out of the room without a word. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out why it happened like this, and all these days later, I still don't really have an answer. Was it too much coffee that morning? Maybe I'm under too much stress with deadlines looming... or is there something else going on? Whatever the reason, when I returned after a few minutes to finish my part of the discussion, everyone was looking at me weird and awkwardly changing the subject. It's been eating at me ever since... I guess this confession is more about asking myself than anyone else, why do these moments happen and how can I handle them better in the future? ...
