did i go too far?

i was at the mall last week and saw my grandson's friend, who he always talks about. so i bought him a cool action figure thinking it would be nice. but then i remembered how strict his parents are with screen time and stuff like that. now i feel bad. did i make things worse? am i overthinking this too much?
