That One Time I Lied About My Coffee Skills
Anonymous Smitten Charmer #513 · General
So there was this one day at work when a customer asked me if we had any special flavors for coffee. I mean, honestly, it’s just plain old espresso and water here, but the way they were looking so hopeful... It made me feel like maybe I could offer something cool. So I said yeah, totally, we’ve got some unique blends! They seemed excited as I was rushing around pretending to know what flavors we actually had. Then I realized, uh oh, this might get out of hand. But it was too late, the customer asked for a recommendation and looked so eager that I couldn’t say no. I made up this thing about us having a special hazelnut-infused roast from the mountains somewhere far away. The look on their face when they tasted their usual latte, well...let’s just say it was awkward. They didn't really call me out, but there was that moment of realization in their eyes. And every time I see them now, I feel a little guilty. Maybe next time I should just be honest instead of trying to impress with nonexistent coffee skills.
