bored at work

i just spent 3 hours debugging code only to find out the issue was a missing semicolon. i mean really, does anyone else feel like we spend half our day looking for typos? and now my boss wants me to optimize this algorithm that runs fine as is. why do people think making things faster means they'll be more efficient or whatever. sometimes i just want to tell everyone to take a chill pill.
