When Work Met Play

So here’s a little dilemma I’ve been grappling with lately. You see, there’s this guy at work who’s always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. We’re colleagues, but he’s also a part-time neighbor, living just down the street. It started innocently enough, casual small talk about gardening tips and local news. But then one day, we both ended up at the same coffee shop around 9 PM for our caffeine fix, chatting like old friends instead of just work buddies. Now every week or so, we find ourselves doing random errands together on a Friday night. It’s not that I have romantic feelings, I’m very clear about boundaries and professionalism. But here’s the thing: he makes these little jokes at me during meetings now, like we’re BFFs from high school instead of coworkers with a side of casual chats. Is it wrong to just want him to stick to being the charming neighbor who knows how to prune rose bushes? Or am I overthinking this entirely? What would you do in my shoes?
