Adulting Sucks Sometimes

So here I am, turning 42 and still struggling to figure out why adults think everything should be perfectly organized. My kitchen drawers look like a tornado hit them every single day, no matter how many times I tell myself to clean up. Last week, I found an old sock in my spice drawer that wasn't there when I first moved in! Anybody else ever feel this way about adult responsibilities? Am I the only one who just lets it all go and hopes for the best?
