I Pranked My Roommate but Ended Up Being the One to Laugh at Myself

So, my roommate Sarah and I were having a pretty chill week. We have different schedules, she works late nights while I’m usually in class during the day, so we don’t see each other much until later. But one day, she had off work and was chilling on our shared laptop while I was doing homework nearby. I was feeling kind of annoyed that morning because I thought she’d been hogging all the bathroom time (which isn't true). Anyway, I decided to prank her a bit by switching out her shampoo with mine. My hair is way more frizzy and curly than hers, so I figured it would be funny when she tried using my “squeaky clean” shampoo that didn’t lather right. But here’s where things get messy, well, not really messy since the shampoo worked fine, but figuratively speaking! So Sarah comes back later with her hair damp after washing up and starts to complain about how weird her hair feels. I tried hiding my giggle by reading a textbook super close, hoping she wouldn’t catch on. Then, I got too confident in myself, I went for the full prank reveal and joked that it must be because of using my shampoo instead of hers. But uh oh... Sarah has this weird ability to just look at you without blinking or breaking eye contact until you cave (or blush like crazy). She looked over, caught me mid-laugh. So I’m all: “I knew it, I saw your face right when I came back from showering! You should see the funny expression on your own face now!” But she just raises an eyebrow and walks out. Later that night, Sarah comes into our room with this big grin, she says one of her co-workers overheard her complaining about my shampoo prank and made a comment about how strange it was for someone to care so much about using the right shampoo that they’d notice mine didn’t match their usual brand. So basically, I ended up getting caught but also outed as just being really particular with hair stuff. Haha, turns out I was the one who should’ve been laughing at myself instead of her.
