I Accidentally Derailed Class

Today in my math class, there was a small disagreement over an answer. When I pointed out what I thought was incorrect, it ended up turning into a long debate that lasted way beyond the time we had left. The teacher seemed exasperated and the rest of us just confused about why something so simple took up most of our day... Was this really my fault for bringing attention to an error? I don't know if I would do anything different knowing what I know now, but I feel guilty anyway.
