...I Spy My Enemy in Class...

So yeah, I'm that grad student who's secretly keeping tabs on my academic rival from undergrad. Every time she breezes into the lecture hall and takes a seat near the front, I feel this weird mix of admiration for her confidence...and also an overwhelming urge to compete with her... Like, we both know how smart she is, but it still irks me that everyone thinks she's some sort of academic prodigy. Every time she raises her hand in class or gets a perfect score on an assignment, I try not to let my jaw drop and instead take notes super-diligently... It's ridiculous really, because we're both just trying our best, you know? But sometimes it feels like I need to prove myself more than she does. So I'm confessing this: I spend way too much time plotting how to outshine her in every possible way...it's a bit childish, but also kind of fun and motivating at the same time...
