My Roommate Thinks I'm a Hothead (But It's Actually Her)

So, here's the deal. My name is Emily and I just started my freshman year at this big college in Boston. We've got these cool roommate matching systems that connect you with people who have similar interests and hobbies, or so they say. Turns out, my roommate Samantha isn't as chill about stuff like parties and staying up late as the system said she would be. She's always complaining about how messy I am when really, she’s the one who never picks up her side of things. One night, a couple of weeks into school, there was this big party in our dorm. Samantha didn't want to go because she thought it would be too loud and disruptive for other students. But she left me alone to enjoy myself, which is fine by me! I love meeting new people and having fun. After the party wrapped up around midnight, my roommate decided that everyone who went had basically ruined their room for the week. She started giving me grief about how noisy it was and how she couldn't sleep because of all the commotion. It's true, we did keep a few friends over to hang out, but they were respectful, too. Anyway, I tried explaining that not everyone at college is going to be an early bird like her, but Samantha wouldn’t hear any of it. The next day in class she kept texting me about how annoying the party was and that we needed rules from now on. By the end of the week, I had enough of her nagging. So one night when she started another rant about me staying out too late to hang out with my friends, I finally snapped back at her in a way I knew would shut her up for good. It worked, but it didn't fix our roomie situation. Anyway, there you have it! I know it’s not cool to snap like that, and I feel kind of bad about it now. But maybe she’ll start to get the hint we need to be a bit more chill with each other's living styles.
