New Kid in Town

I just moved to this city from a small town where everyone knew my name. I'm used to the comfort of familiarity and knowing exactly what goes on around me, but here, everything is different. The streets are wider, buildings taller, and people seem too busy to notice a newcomer like me. Today at work, I was about to ask someone for directions when I realized that maybe no one needs to know my name or care about where I'm from. It's all a bit overwhelming. Have any of you moved recently and found your own ways to adjust? What tips do you have?
