I'm Afraid of Dark Hallways Now

So I know this sounds super lame but I’ve been too scared to walk down the dimly lit hallway near my dorm since last week. It’s like, 50 feet long at most and perfectly safe... in theory. The thing is, a couple nights ago, we had this big party and I was running late getting back to my room. As I rushed through the dark hallway to get to the stairwell, I heard some weird thumping sounds coming from around the corner near the trash cans. I froze, thinking it might be someone with bad intentions (totally got paranoid). When no one came out for a long time and I was running late, I had no choice but to brave it. But now every little noise in there freaks me out! It’s pretty embarrassing, right? :P
