...It Was the Latte?...

Anonymous Shifty Flirt #542 · General

So yesterday was one of those days where everything just seems to go wrong. I woke up late because my alarm clock decided it hated me, and then somehow managed to spill coffee all over myself in less than five minutes after turning on the stove. And that was before I even got to work. When I finally dragged myself into the cafe at around 7:30 AM, three quarters of an hour late, I saw this one customer, Sarah (she’s a regular), sitting there looking like she needed her morning coffee fix more than ever. She had those dark circles under her eyes that are all too familiar and that day wore a really tired smile. And I messed up on her order...big time. I know we have at least five different types of lattes, but somehow I managed to mix them up in the worst way possible. The drink was supposed to be her usual decaf vanilla latte, but I made it with espresso and forgot the vanilla syrup... And then there were these two customers who showed up right as I was making her order, complaining about how long they'd been waiting since the place was packed already. One of them even walked off because he didn't want to wait any longer for his drink. So there I am, sweating bullets trying not to cry in front of everyone. The whole morning felt like a whirlwind of bad choices and mistakes that just kept piling up on top of each other. It's funny how sometimes you can feel so stressed out it makes everything worse... When Sarah got her coffee, already cold by the time I finished, I could tell she was disappointed and even a little frustrated with me. I offered to remake it, but she just shook her head and muttered something about how there weren't enough hours in the day for this nonsense. I know sometimes these things happen and we’re only human...but still, why did it have to be on my shift? Why couldn’t that customer have waited five more minutes? Maybe I should have just quit after all. But then again, who’s going to take care of everyone here if no one steps up... And now here I am, thinking about all this at home...sitting with a cup of my own bad coffee. ...
