I Accidentally Called My Friend's Child 'Grandson'

I'll admit it, I slipped up the other day. My friend Jane came over with her family and as we were chatting in the living room, something caught my tongue in an odd way. Without thinking twice, I blurted out, "Oh, how is your grandson today?" The air went silent for a moment before Jane laughed it off, saying she understood that sometimes one's mind gets ahead of them. Her son looked confused but didn't say anything. It was an embarrassing mix-up, especially because the boy is only nine years old and looks nothing like someone who would be my grandson. I quickly corrected myself, explaining the oversight and apologizing profusely for any discomfort it caused. Despite the awkward moment, Jane assured me it wasn’t a big deal, and we moved on with our visit as though nothing had happened.
