Tossed the Salad

Tonight, at work in the kitchen during my shift, I found out one of our main ingredients was spoiled. Instead of discarding it like protocol dictates, I sneaked a few pieces into a pre-made salad mix we had on hand for quick orders. It's not much, just enough to save us from having to throw away an entire bin worth of veggies that still looked decent. But now every time someone orders that mix, there’s this tiny chance of them getting something less than fresh, and it keeps me up a little at night thinking about it.
