My Secret Experiment Gone Horribly Wrong

So, I’ve been experimenting with baking soda and vinegar for my science project. I thought it would be cool to see what happens when you mix them in different ratios to make more extreme reactions or something like that. The problem is, my math isn't the best, and I got a bit carried away. Instead of making a big fizzy reaction, I accidentally made an acid rain shower in the kitchen. My mom came home just as it started raining vinegar all over her brand new carpet! She was not happy. I tried to tell her that it’s science and that I’m learning from my mistakes, but she didn’t seem to care about the science behind it. She said if I wanted to be a scientist one day, maybe I should work in a lab where there are safety measures instead of messing up our home. Now, here’s the thing, I still feel really guilty over this whole situation because even though I know what I did was wrong and could’ve been prevented with better planning and math skills, part of me is also mad that my mom didn’t see it as a learning opportunity. Maybe she’s right to be upset, but sometimes when you’re passionate about something like science, little mistakes seem like big deals. Anyway, I've cleaned up the mess, well, at least tried to. Mom isn't exactly thrilled with me right now, and my carpet isn’t looking so great either. But hey, maybe next time it won’t rain vinegar in our house.
