I Broke My Kid's Game Console in a Fit of Anger

So, here’s this thing that I’ve been carrying around with me for weeks now. My oldest kid is obsessed with these video games, and it’s driving me crazy how much time he spends playing them instead of studying or doing chores. Last week was just too much; after his grades came out really low again because he hadn’t been paying attention in class, I lost it. While he was upstairs gaming, I was downstairs trying to figure out a way to get him to pay more attention to schoolwork and less to his console. But when I couldn’t take it anymore and went up to confront him, things got heated really fast. Before I knew it, I snatched the controller out of his hands and accidentally slammed it against the wall. It broke into pieces right in front of me. And now, I don't know how to face my son or what to do next. I feel awful about what I did but also incredibly guilty for letting this situation get so bad.
