My Classroom's Secret Snack Thief

So, I'm a middle school teacher and this one kid in my class has been driving me nuts. It started with just small things, pencils going missing, books misplaced. But then it escalated to snacks disappearing from the lunch table right under everyone's noses. We've had granola bars, chips, even fruit vanishing into thin air during breaks. At first, I thought maybe a janitor was taking them or another student coming in for after-school activities who might have mistaken our classroom as theirs. But then it got weirder. One day, right before lunch, I saw this kid named Jamie, yep, Jamie the sweet little angel, casually grabbing some cookies from my desk drawer where I keep my personal snacks. My heart sank. I debated telling on him but something stopped me. Maybe it's because he's such a good student in all other respects, or maybe I just wanted to see if he'd ever own up to it himself. The more days went by without resolution though, the guiltier I felt about not saying anything sooner. Then last week, during an English assignment where we had to write short stories about real-life problems and their solutions, Jamie wrote one about a classroom snack thief. It was written in such a way that it seemed like he was writing it for me, confessing everything indirectly. I felt so conflicted because here's this kid who’s clever enough to get away with it but also smart enough to know how much it affects others. Since then, the snacks are still disappearing and Jamie looks at me every day as if trying to read my mind. It’s driving me crazy knowing that he probably feels just as guilty as I do about this whole situation, and I'm stuck not sure what to do next.
