A Day Off Wasn't What I Hoped It Would Be

I woke up today thinking it would be a perfect day to relax and enjoy some quiet time. My kids are finally at school, so I decided to take the day off from my usual chores and errands. I planned on reading that book I've been wanting to read for weeks now and maybe even watching a movie in peace. But as soon as I turned on the TV, there was nothing but reruns and not a single new episode of anything I like. Then, halfway through the first chapter, I realized my favorite coffee shop is right across from where my kids usually have their music class, so it's always crowded with families around that time. I didn't feel like making coffee at home today either. So here I am, almost six hours into this glorious day off, and all I've managed to do is clean the house thoroughly, water some plants, and maybe watch a documentary about space or something equally unexciting on Netflix. Maybe a day alone was too much to ask for after being cooped up with three energetic kids all week long. Now it just feels like another routine day in disguise.
