When My Kids' Toybox Becomes Mine Again

Okay, so I'm one of those parents who secretly loves when the toybox gets a bit too full. You know how it is, there are days when all you want to do is just lie around and pretend like your life isn't as hectic as it actually is. And then, suddenly, my kids get so tired or go to bed early (yes, this is a miracle that doesn’t happen often), leaving me with the perfect opportunity to dig into their toy chest. I swear, every time I find something new that makes me go, “Oh wow, I forgot about this! It’s still so cool!” Whether it's building intricate block castles or racing Matchbox cars down our hallway makeshift ramps, there's just something therapeutic about getting lost in these simple joys again. But here's the catch, I end up playing for longer than I thought, and before you know it, bedtime is way past due for my little ones. So here’s my confession: Is it weird that sometimes I use my kids’ exhaustion to get a few minutes of unadulterated fun? And more importantly, should I be worried about the time I'm actually losing when they're in bed? Any advice on striking a balance between being a parent and sneaking some childhood back into your life?
