My Class Participation Lies

Anonymous Cunning Gossip #308 · General

I joined this class with high hopes of improving my public speaking skills. I was always quiet in social settings and felt like my ideas weren't heard enough. However, as the semester progressed, I found myself creating elaborate lies about my past experiences to make my contributions sound more interesting and relevant to the group. For instance, when discussing travel adventures, I invented a story about backpacking through Europe for months, even though I had never left the country. It felt like every time someone asked me a follow-up question, I was caught off guard but managed to bluff my way out of it by adding more lies on top of the original one. This went on for weeks until I finally confessed the truth to my classmates and admitted that none of those stories were real. The relief when I could be honest again was overwhelming.
