...I Broke Company Policy to Save Money on My Coffee...

So here's the thing... I've been working as a barista at this quaint little coffee shop for about six months now. It's not exactly the most glamorous job, but it pays the bills and lets me indulge in my love for caffeine. The place has these crazy rules though... everything from how you grind the beans to how much change you give back if someone overpays.... There’s this one policy that really gets under my skin: no employee discounts unless we work at least 20 hours a week, and since I usually clock in around 15-18 hours weekly, it never applies to me. But the coffee is pricey... every day I see all these students with their fancy lattes getting massive discounts while I’m stuck paying full price for my own cup of joe.... One day, I was really feeling it, running on fumes and trying not to spend money just to get a caffeine fix that would keep me going through the end of my shift. As I was putting my order in at the POS system... something inside me clicked. It’s like, why am I following these rules if they’re so strict? Why can’t I just give myself an employee discount too?.... So I did it... I entered my order as a regular customer transaction but then manually added the employee discount code behind the scenes. It felt weird, almost guilty, but also oddly empowering.... The barista who rang me up didn’t bat an eye, she’s usually on autopilot anyway and has no clue what goes on in the back office. I left with my coffee feeling a mix of relief and dread... Would they notice? Could this come back to bite me in the future? It's been weeks since then, and everything seems fine so far....
