I Broke My Mom's Favorite Teapot Without Telling Her ...

So... you know how sometimes life gets hectic and you're juggling a million things at once? Yeah, that was me last week. I got called into work unexpectedly because my boss is out sick and needed someone to cover for him. I had this list of errands I wanted to do before going in but ended up skipping most of them, which included picking up groceries... yeah, my mom's birthday party was today and I forgot about it entirely. I rushed home with the office work piling up around me at lunchtime and barely made it on time. My hands were shaking as I set out to make a pot of tea for everyone because she loves that teapot my grandmother gave her. It was such an important gift, but here's where things get tricky. As I was pouring the water into it... you guessed it... there was this loud CLATTER and the teapot shattered on the floor in pieces. My heart sank, and so did my mom when she came to check what the noise was. She looked devastated... I froze for a moment before trying to clean up quickly without her noticing anything amiss.
