The Great Library Book Lie

So here's the thing, last week I went to the library because my history class requires us to read some obscure book that everyone else on campus seems to have misplaced. Being resourceful, I managed to find a copy but let’s just say it was due back at 10 PM on Sunday night and it was already Tuesday by then. So instead of admitting to the librarian that I had this overdue book stuffed under my mattress since Sunday morning, I told her I hadn’t even been able to get into the library until today because I’d caught a bad cold over the weekend. She believed me, I mean, who doesn't love a good story about being bedridden with strep throat and Netflix? It’s not like it's exactly a lie that can cause anyone actual harm... but still, here we are, Tuesday night, and my guilt is still as thick as those overdue library fines. I guess sometimes the truth really isn’t convenient for everyone involved.
