That One Mistake While Pouring Drinks

You know how sometimes you’re so busy and stressed that even the simplest task can seem impossible? Well, last Saturday was one of those nights. It wasn’t a slow night at all, it was packed with everyone out to have a good time. I had just started pouring this one guy his second drink when suddenly my phone buzzed. Of course, it was right then that the boss came over asking about inventory and I was trying not to spill anything on top of everything else. I poured the drink, but oh boy, did I pour too much or something? The guy took a sip and made this face like he couldn’t believe what just happened. And yeah, turns out I accidentally poured him vodka instead of his usual gin tonic. He was gracious about it and didn’t make a big deal, but I’m still kicking myself over there. Now every time someone orders a drink with alcohol in it, my mind goes back to that moment when the pressure got too much. Why did I have to answer that text? I know it’s not a big deal and everyone makes mistakes, but this one feels like it happened in slow motion, replaying over and over in my head.
