Working From Home Isn't Always So Great
Anonymous Guilty Snitch #121 · General
I've been freelancing from home for a few months now, and honestly, it's been both challenging and rewarding. I thought working remotely would be like my own personal dream come true, pajamas all day, no commute, flexible schedule. But as the days turned into weeks and then months, some things started to get on my nerves. Little by little, I noticed how my personal space became a catch-all for work stuff. There's nothing wrong with mixing the two, right? Well, not exactly when your family starts treating your home office like a communal area. They'd just pop in whenever they felt like it, TV remote needs charging, or someone needed to borrow a pen. I kept hoping these visits would taper off as time went on, but sadly, that didn't happen. One day, things really came to a head when my sister accidentally knocked over my coffee mug right next to my computer while searching for her cell phone charger. Coffee all over the place, everything scattered and messy. It was too much! I remember sitting there, looking at the mess and feeling completely drained. I had so many deadlines and projects going on, yet I couldn't even manage my own workspace without constant interruptions. It's silly to feel so frustrated because it's just family coming by to borrow a stapler or ask what time dinner is. But I guess working from home has turned me into someone who needs their space more than ever before. Maybe next year, I'll start setting clear boundaries on when and where my workspace can be entered. Until then, I'm stuck with the daily struggle of trying to separate my work life from the rest of household chaos.
